Your Microbiome, In Real Time
We offer HD videography of the human microbiome, with a focus on analysis of specimens ex vivo.
We do not work directly with individuals. Please ask your practitioner about our services, or contact us for more information.
Evidence-Based Imaging
MacTech Imaging specializes in ex vivo phase contrast video and high-resolution static microscopy, capturing cellular and microbial dynamics with clarity. Our imaging services provide clinicians and researchers with objective visual records of morphology and activity, supporting deeper insight.
What We Do
MacTech Imaging provides live video microscopy of oral and systemic microbial samples, capturing organisms in their natural, motile state. Unlike traditional culture or PCR assays, which offer static identification of species or fragments, our approach reveals morphology, abundance, and behavior in real time.
This dynamic perspective allows clinicians to assess biofilm activity, motility patterns, and community balance—factors often invisible to standard labs. As an adjunct to molecular or culture-based diagnostics, MacTech Imaging adds functional insight: not only what microbes are present, but how they are interacting within the patient’s terrain. This can inform treatment choices, track responses, and deepen understanding of chronic or refractory conditions where microbial dynamics matter as much as microbial identity.
-
No. MacTech Imaging is not a diagnostic assay. It is an adjunctive visualization tool that provides clinicians with additional context. By combining standard laboratory results with live imaging, practitioners gain a fuller picture of the patient’s microbial terrain, which can help guide clinical decisions and monitor progress.
-
Traditional labs provide identification (what organisms are present) but usually not functional behavior. MacTech Imaging complements these methods by showing how microbes are behaving - whether they’re forming biofilms, how active they are, and how their abundance shifts over time or treatment.
-
After your sample is imaged, you receive a clear, structured report with video stills and clips showing the microbes in motion. The report includes an analysis of what was observed (such as microbial shapes, movement patterns, and relative abundance), explained in accessible language. It is designed for both you and your clinician, so you can see the same visual evidence and track changes over time alongside other lab results or treatments.
